Here is an update to the OCS Diff Scripts courtesy of Dioni Vidal. Dioni is from Brazil and speaks Portuguese, so some of the messages are in Portuguese. If someone takes the time to translate, let me know and I will post the translations as well.

The installation remains the same as the original version, and you can find the details here. Dioni’s version adds reporting of sound and video changes to the hardware script, and adds software change reporting (added or removed) via ocssoftware.php.

Don’t forget to change the email addresses in ocshardware.php and ocssoftware.php on lines 15,16 and 17.

Once you are done the related cron jobs are likely to look something like this:

10 * / 1 * * php * apache / usr / share / ocsinventory-reports / ocsreports / ocssoftware.php

Here is the script I used to generate hardware change reports from the OCS NG database. This script is implemented much like the daily disk reports from OCS (see this). Sorry there is no better documentation for this, I just have not had the time and soon will no longer have access to test or refine this. If you post a comment here I will try to help as best I can and as time allows.

I needed to consolidate a couple of servers down to a single machine, but the system’s users were used to entering a certain URL. DNS was the easy part, just create a CNAME record to point to the host. But how to direct users who enter the CNAME (call it cname.domain.com for example) to one directory while still directing the users from the original host (using hostname.domain.com) to the content they are used to seeing? There are probably more elegant ways to do this, but I simply created an index.php file to look at the URL passed and redirect them to the proper content. See the file below:

> index.php

<?php
$host_passed = $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'];
if (strtolower($host_passed) == "cname.domain.com") {
	header("Location: /cnameweb/index.html");
	exit;
} else {

After a very long delay due to higher priorities the 0.40 update to Domain Auditor was released today. This release adds the ability to email reports in addition to displaying them on screen, modularized code to support this. Added ability to run any report on a scheduled basis. Added ability to report on group membership in addition to the account reporting capabilities. Modified the generation of the apache config file to work with newer version of Apache (problems with syntax on newer servers). The release can be downloaded from Sourceforge.

ADISS 1.0 was released on October 12th, 2006. This release includes an LDAP search feature, so that it is easier to identify the Active Directory groups which should be used to control access to any given Subversion repository. This release also includes some new fields in the administration screen which can be used to track project owners (by SAMAccountName), and Technical Leads for those same projects, as well as project numbers. Additionally this release includes user forms accessible by the Project Owner or Technical Lead which will enable them to edit pre and post commit hook scripts. This is a useful feature if your project teams need this access, but you do not wish to either grant them access to the Subversion server, or make changes on their behalf.

ADISS can be downloaded at Sourceforge, community and developer support is available via the forums at the same Sourceforge site.
